I first met Jonas Saul in 2011 when he was looking for an editor for a new series he was writing (The Mafia Trilogy). He’d published a handful of books and his career was taking off. Over the next seven years, I edited twenty-three of his books, including seventeen of the Sarah Roberts Series books, plus a handful of short stories.
I was in awe of not only his output, but the quality of his stories and characters. That level of productivity and quality weren’t traits I’d often seen paired together. His books were page turners that would suck me in as a reader so much I’d have to read them two or three times before I could focus on editing.
As an editor, it’s always sad to see a long-time client move on, yet it’s exciting when a writer friend’s career takes off to include agent representation and Hollywood knocking at his door.
