Precisely! I wrote an article here some time ago where I compared writing a novel to learning piano or tennis. You have to learn the basic skills first, then start putting them together, then practice and play for years before you become competent. There's the 10,000-hour rule, which is approximately how long any skill takes to become muscle memory. That's writing 40 hours a week for five years (or playing piano or tennis or brain surgery). I've also heard 'write one million words' or 'write four novels and throw the first three away.' Same general principles. Of course, having a gift, talent, or natural inclination toward any of these things helps, but the training, teaching, coaching, practicing, failing, etc. is still required.
As someone who works with authors, I admire how you’re building your platform, keep going, you’re on the right track
Writing is a practice discipline, like sports, nursing, teaching, music, or cooking. The more you do, the better you get.
