We have two more weeks of the 26-week writing coach series, which will wrap up on Sept. 23.
Then, per your requests, I’ll post a two-part article on writing short stories, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7.
On Oct. 14, to kick things off, I’ll post an unpublished short story of mine for your critique. Figured I should put myself out there for your feedback before asking you to do the same. I’d submitted this to a contest, but alas, it didn’t win or place. So I can either blame the contest judges for not comprehending my literary brilliance, or I can seek some feedback and maybe revise it before trying again elsewhere.
Anytime between now and Oct. 14, polish up a sample of your writing to submit.
Info to include:
Format (novel, memoir, or short story)
Genre
A one- or two-sentence summary of the story line, or if your submission is from the middle of the story, a sentence or two to set up the scene
If there’s some specific issue or feedback you’re seeking, let me know (such as dialogue, description, etc.)
Attach your submission of 1,000 to 2,000 words in a Word document
Email all this to robb@robbgrindstaff.com
Let’s avoid erotica or graphic sex scenes for public critique. Yeah, I know, making love is off-limits but if a few people are murdered, no prob.
I’ll post your story along with my feedback. I’ll do one a week as I receive them, maybe taking a break to address something else on occasion, depending on how many submissions are received.
In the comments, others can chime in as well.
Submitting something for critique or commenting on submissions will be limited to paid subscribers only, so if you’re interested in participating, be sure to click this beautiful blue button:

Thanks, and let’s make this fun, helpful, and supportive.
Thank you, Robb. Anything that will improve my writing and ability to provide helpful critiques is what I need. 🙇♂️
I think I'll give it a try. Thanks, Robb.
