I’m talking about a novel where the first-person narrator has a dual perspective on events: in the moment as it happens, and the same character in the future looking back on events.
To illustrate with a famous example, take the second paragraph of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee:
When enough years had gone by to enable us to look back on them, we sometimes discussed the events leading to his accident.
